Wow, has it really been a week since I blogged? More than? Yup! This has literally been one of the busiest months ever, yet the absolute most rewarding. Hands down!
As you know, I’ve been coaching girl’s cross country at a private high school. It’s only been a month, and I’m already sad that it will be over in 8 more weeks. Working with such amazing young adults, being a part of their journey and seeing the determination and heart that they show up with each day is so rewarding.
I had the Dad of one of my girls send this to me after the first meet of the season last weekend. I was SO proud of all the girls, and seeing the progress they’ve each made in only a month is the absolute best! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds 🙂
I had them each trace a Shamrock onto felt, cut out and decorate last week for a team building the night before the meet. I’d say I have some pretty creative girls. They never had a wall before, so they have loved seeing this each day as they come in for practice.
I’ve been able to get in a few runs this past week along with elliptical and pool.
5 miles last Thursday and it took quite awhile for my legs to warm up as my Stress Reactions were along for the run. I went in the afternoon and found some new trails behind UIW to keep me shaded from the million degree heat!
It’s been warm to say the least!
I really liked the soft wood chipped trails though and it kept my mind off my legs which were talking to me.
My coach built me up after this run and let me know it would be okay! I have a half marathon in a few weeks and I’m definitely not showing up the way I had hoped. I’ve been injured for about 8 weeks and my running has definitely struggled. I know big things are to come and that the universe is just testing me. However, more lessons have been learned, my fire inside is bigger than ever, and I’ll show up to my Dec half marathon strong. I can feel it! Then, it’s on to the Chevron Houston Marathon in January. Big. Goals.
The half I’ll be running in a few weeks is the Plano Balloon Festival Half Marathon. It’s a huge event in Plano that also holds a few epic races that weekend, and I’m excited to take part!
It’s time to take your run on an epic adventure. Soaring hot air balloons pave the way to your amazing day to run one of four races! Sign up for the half marathon, 10K, 5K or 1K.
All participants in each distance will receive a dazzling commemorative finisher medal!
All participants receive two tickets to the InTouch Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival plus parking on race day. Don’t let this opportunity fly by, register today!
Come run with me! I know the race will be amazing, and I’ll give it my all with all that I’m capable. Then next year I’ll be back to crush this year’s time 🙂
For those of you who are more daring, check out the Sky High Challenge or the Elevate Challenge! The Sky High Challenge includes the 5K on Saturdayand the Half Marathon on Sunday. The Elevate Challenge includes the 5K on Saturday and the 10K on Sunday. Both of these events also receive a bonus finisher medal.
This past weekend I went to knock out some miles and wanted to try a park I’d never been to get. I got SO turned around on the trails, and if you look at the map above, you’ll see all the little trails mixed in and it’s no wonder!
Not sure I will go back unless wanting to hike, as these trails were anything but flat. Beautiful park though!
Never go to HEB Plus mid afternoon, on a Sunday, the day before school starts. Two hours of my life I’ll never get back!
I devoured a whole bag of gummy bears while I shopped. Needed the sugar 🙂
However, the gummy bears I left in my car in this hot weather didn’t make it out alive!
I’ve made quite delicious salads this week as I baked up some Brussels, salmon, street corn, couscous, etc… then I add everything I can think of and inhale every bite!
That fruit is a Plumcot and my newest addiction. Crunchy like an apple, a little sweet and a little sour. Freaking delicious!
Yesterday’s Run was the first one that felt good in months. Well, after the first 5 minutes or so! It was a great 3 miles and I was so happy that it felt so good. THEN, I had my first speed work in a month and I was able to knock out some pretty good splits. Pain free. I thanked my legs and my coach said, “welcome back“. Hoping it continues to improve as I have so much I want to accomplish these next few years.
I won’t let it get me down. I’m lucky and it’s just a small set back. Better than the one that happened end of last year causing me to not run for an entire month before the Houston Marathon. Ugh! I have to stay healthy, and am going to be listening to my body more than ever!
One of my Goals… is marrying THIS girl in less than 90 days! We have a lot to do and need to get our crap together. We will talk Wedding this weekend and it’s a three day holiday weekend! Yeah!
Hope everyone has had a great week! I am going to be SO much better moving forward on posting.
Any plans for your Labor Day?
Anything exciting happen this week?
