Monday Madness + Ice Ice Baby + Back on the Roads

The past few days have been insane. I thought I was busy a month ago. Nope! I am NOW busy busy busy. I also wouldn’t change a second of it, even if it meant more than the 5 hours of sleep I’m getting each night. I really am going to try to do better than that this week. Said me every week of my life….. 😂

Saturday morning I woke up at 4:30am to get a run in before my girls had practice. I wanted to run a route that I was interested in having them complete this week and I was itching to get on the roads for my first 6 miler in a few weeks. With this damn stress reaction, I’ve only been knocking out a few miles and then adding in pool and elliptical so I was sooooo excited to feel good about hitting the roads.

I ran through UIW area which I love as you get to see the athletic complex and University come to life in the mornings. It’s very old, but the facilities are awesome. It reminds me of our time in Virginia and I feel connected to it like we did with UVA. Love it!

I ran through Brackenridge Park which is right next door to the Witte Museum. Heard lots of birds and animals and I loved it. Tons of trails, restrooms, mental distractions, water fountains, etc.. I felt like I was in another world and will definitely be spending more time in those areas!

I got 7 road miles total once I marked the park for the girls. I then did 3 point something miles in the pool so I had over ten for the day. It felt awesome.

Legs felt good the whole way, but were a bit sore on the shins and tibea the rest of the weekend. Compression sleeves and ice was on the agenda when I was off my feet!

Once showered we went to hobby lobby. 17 hours later (okay it felt like it but seriously we were in there for like 3) we came out with what we had gone in for. Lynn needed stuff for her classroom and I bought a bunch of stuff to decorate our Cross Country Wall in the gym. Lots of glitter, green and shamrocks.

$150 bucks, it better look good! It will be a lot of fun and a good team building. Each girl will decorate own shamrock, I’ll get pictures, put up mottos, quotes, etc! Yeah!

We got hungry at some point and ended up at Raising Canes. We shared the basket above and will definitely be back! I had never been there before but I’m already licking my lips for more!

I got a free pair of Knockaround Sunglasses in the mail to review and am in love with the color. Next run in the sun and I’ll be sporting these babies!

Yesterday was a long easy run outside and my legs held on. Ice ice baby will be my motto for the week. I’m so frustrated with the time I’ve lost and training missed. However, I’m grateful for each mile I get to run, each sunrise I get to witness and the fact that I get to be part of a sport that is near and dear to my heart! I didn’t lose much over the past few weeks and I have a lot of races on my calendar and with each of them comes it’s own goal.

Things will happen, it’s how you overcome them that make you stronger. Don’t hit a road block and turn around. Instead, figure out how to climb it, go around it or get through it!

Yesterday also included my favorite – Kodiak muffins! I made chocolate for the week, yum yum yum! I also made salmon, roasted carrots and what else? Brussels of course! It’s our favorite!

This week’s goals include early bed. Yup, that is my goal…. so much so I made it plural. Goals!

Hope y’all had a great weekend and start to the week!
