Saturday Easy 6 + Sunday 14 Mile Long Run + Bike Drama + Wedding Planning

Saturday and Sunday was a ton of fun! so much so that I didn’t have time to Blog yesterday!

I started Saturday out with a fresh outlook and an easy 6 miles. I truly enjoyed my run, and my leg only bothered me a bit. I can’t wait to show up for a run and to have zero pain!

The cryotherapy I did the night before did some good! It was the coldest one yet, -224 degrees. Woo! Love my Friday Cryo!

It was so cold that the socks and slippers had frost on them. You can even see the goosebumps on my leg. I iced and foam rolled Friday night to do all I could to be ready for the weekend.

The sunset was beautiful and I was grateful to be out doing what I love. Running makes me tick and I’m grateful for every step… from the tough ones to the fastest!

I love that I’m seeing a lot of the same people out on the trails now, and we wave, say hi and encourage as we pass. Only runners can be feeling miserable, wanting to throw themselves off the side of the trail or hopefully be feeling amazing and speedy…. yet they almost all will nod, smile or say good morning, letting up if for only a second to acknowledge why we are all out there doing the same thing. To get stronger, accomplish a goal, prove to ourselves that nothing is impossible, and for the pure love of the sport.

After the run, Lynn and I headed to Walmart as I wanted to get a cheap bike. I’ll explain more this week as I have a fun announcement.

However, I couldn’t get the damn thing in my car, and I didn’t realize the front or back wheel didn’t have a quick release on it so I was in a hard spot. What do I do?!??

Leave my amazing fiancé in the car (with the AC blasting) to babysit the bike while I went inside to see if I could find some tools that could get the front wheel off easily.

I got a socket wrench set as the dude I talked to said one of them would fit for sure. Did one of them fit for sure? Hell no!

Back inside I go. Three times inside Walmart in one week is too many, more less three times in one freaking day!

So, I return that socket wrench set, and I buy another with bigger things (whatever they are called!)

Well, hallelujah one fit! I then had to pry the actual socket wrench off the package, only to realize I needed a freaking screwdriver to get it out as it was like child proof connected! Luckily, I had one in my trunk from changing my license plates. Had I not, I would’ve lost my mind by going back into that place for a 4th time.

That, or I would’ve said hell with it all and just returned the bike! Lol

Two hours later, all three of us were in the car! Me, fiancé and Shamrock the bike! (Again, I’ll explain later, he he he)

We then went to Hobby Lobby to look at wedding craft things. Center piece ideas for tables, signs, and a picture frame for the Shawn Mendes poster we got from the concert I took her to for her Bday!

3.5 hours later, I had never wanted to be at home more! We also realized we have a ton of stuff to still do! It was pretty much dinner and bed after that as I had a 14 miler scheduled bright and early Sunday!

So Sunday rolled around and I hit snooze for way too long. I got started about the time I was wanted to actually finish up so I knew I was going to be miserably hot by the end.

The first 7 miles were an easy pace, so I went out for 3.5 and headed back for 3.5. Then, I fueled and got ready to torture myself.

I did exactly as my coach had asked me to do…. right until the last few miles which I took too fast. That cost me as I had to stop (well, I guess I technically didn’t HAVE to) as I was getting a bit hot and dizzy (hello 10 degrees) and I couldn’t get my legs back under me for mile 14. So, I decided to use it as a cool down. Had that been a race I never would’ve stopped. So… I need to be practicing race technique during training as well. Don’t stop unless you are about to die, and don’t unleash until the right time as it will always, always always cost you! 😁

I was soaked, felt good about the run but know I still have a lot of work to do! I’m also still pissed at my legs and am going to be spending a lot of time working on them this week!

Foam rolling, ice, Compression sleeves, some other techniques. I’m going to win this war! Lol

After my run I grocery shopped and meal prepped.

  • Salads
  • Baked Brussels sprouts
  • Roasted carrots
  • Breakfast tacos
  • Kodiak muffins (15 g of protein each)
  • Pulled pork
  • Salmon
  • Veggies and fruits

It’s going to be a good week!

Big news to come for me, hoping this leg cooperates, and some amazing workouts on the agenda along with some planned fun!

Have a great week!
