Yesterday was an easy 6 miles, and I was up and at em’ early to knock them out!
Miles 1-3 were a little rough, but coming off a fabulous Track Tuesday and rest day with a shin and leg that was still bugging me, I wasn’t surprised.
However, my legs opened up, as they always do… about 3 miles into the run. Once again, mile 6 was my fastest and I was going simply off feel.
I walked away reminding myself that the hard runs make the easy ones feel amazing. The recovery runs make the body stronger and able to run the workouts that leave you feeling on top of the world. One wouldn’t be possible without the other. Trust the process. Keep showing up and as a wise woman always tells me, “keep building and keep grinding”!
I went to HEB to get a few things after my run as my in-laws are coming into town for the weekend.
I got product to make some delicious breakfast tacos, and I loaded up on a few more boxes of Kodiak Cakes muffin mix. We’ve already blown through the first batch, so it’s time for more! I’m addicted to these things!
I’ve been trying to have positive quotes I can refer to and think about during tough runs and workouts. I want to share a few of my current favorite.
6 Quotes that Speak to Me:
- Running has taught me than I’m capable of more than I ever imagined.
- Run often. Run long. But never outrun your joy of running
- If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.
- Sometimes the best runs come on days you don’t feel like running.
- Don’t find time to run. Make time to run
- The voice in your head that says you can’t do this – is a liar
The last quote I thought about during my tough 6 miles. Your biggest bully is sometimes between your ears. Be stronger than what it is telling you as you are in control! Believe in yourself and be present in the mile you’re in. That’s when the magic happens!
Have a great weekend!
