It’s beginning to look a lot like… wait! It IS Christmas! Happy Holidays to you and yours! I hope your day was filled with love, memories were made and that traditions started and continued.
The picture above shows all the ornaments on the Christmas tree at Mom and Dad Papke’s home. I was surprised last year with an ornament of my own and it warmed my heart to see it hanging yet again this year.
I was surprised to wake up before 8 after falling asleep at 3 in the morning. However, it was Christmas and we were all going to go the the movies at 10:05 a.m. and then decided we would hit up the Asian Buffet after for lunch. We joked about having the singers from The Christmas Story there singing “Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra…”
Anyways, we got ready and headed to the movies and decided on The Mule with Clint Eastwood. The movie was a little slow but we enjoyed it very much as him and Bradley Cooper are great actors. We also saw a few previews of movies we’d like to see in the near future.
When we all gathered in the living room to leave, we laughed as all of us but Mom Papke were wearing the Barrow Brewing Company shirts that Santa left us for Christmas. Love these shirts so naturally I had to have a picture of us taken from behind to show off our amazing wardrobe.
We knew we were going to be a bit hungry and hadn’t had coffee as of yet, so we got us a Starbucks to sip on during the movie. I’m also always worried it’s going to be freezing in theaters (which it usually is or I swear I’m just cold blooded), so I brought a blanket to keep me nice and toasty. We ended up being one of the only groups seeing The Mule, so we pretty much had that place to ourselves.
My ankle was still bothering me pretty badly this morning so I put some of the strips on and popped some Excedrin. I’ve had several folks offer advice on Facebook, etc… and I appreciate it very much. As of tonight, it’s still sore, but it honestly does feel a bit better than this morning and yesterday so I’m being optimistic about the whole thing!
The Asian Buffet was delicious and I filled up on quite a bit of snow crab. Haven’t had that stuff in a few years so it was a nice treat. Great company AND great food. We did go last Thanksgiving, but it was because the house almost burned down from a grease fire and ruined all the hard work that Mom Papke had put into creating that meal. Was glad that the holidays were incident free this year 🙂
After lunch and driving around the neighborhoods a bit, we landed at home and played some games. Christmas Pictionary was a blast especially when the person trying to guess the answer had to sing it! We also played Ticket to Ride and Catchphrase. I’ll tell you, this family is incredibly competitive and it gets pretty funny and loud at times. Wouldn’t have it any other way though!
Lynn beat both her brother and Dad at Ping Pong as well. It was a pretty active afternoon. We have another new game to try out tomorrow and I’d love to play Search Engine again!
I got cold while we were playing games so I also got to try out my Crawford Brew Works Hoodie today and I love it! Thanks family!!!!!
It’s hard to believe Christmas is over, but the past few days have been wonderful. I’m excited that we are here for a few more days, then in Fredericksburg! After that, Lynn and I get to have our own little Christmas and ring in 2019 together. We have a huge year ahead of us and this time next year I will have a wife. I couldn’t ask for more or imagine a more perfect person for me. I will never be able to completely express to her how much she means to me and how much she has changed, impacted, and bettered me and my life. I’m very lucky!
Merry Christmas to you and yours and I hope all your Christmas wishes came true!
See you at the start line… (hopefully in just a few days!)
