Hello again! I hope your Eve of Christmas Eve was awesome!
On the 4th day of Headbands I went with no sparkle. Figured I’d go simple today, ya know… fly under the radar after being front and center yesterday. UGH
The early part of the day was very calm. Everyone was at church but Lynn and I (we are going tomorrow and will repent of all sins. Ha). We watched several episodes of a Netflix show that Lynn stumbled upon and loved it. The show was called 7 Days Out and shows the excitement and drama behind the scenes in the seven days leading up to major live events in the worlds of sports, fashion, space and food. We really liked the episode about the Kentucky Derby. Check it out!
We had the pup’s flannel pajamas in their travel crates from last Christmas, so I decided to put them on. Bella froze in spot and refused to move and Emmy tried hiding under a blanket and pouted. As cute as they looked, they didn’t look very comfortable as the legs of the pajamas wouldn’t stay on. So, after I took a few pictures, I took them out of their misery and let them run naked again.
Lynn’s parents were super kind to bring everyone Subway for lunch and it was delicious! I got the Veggie delight with the works, extra vinegar and a little ranch, salt & pepper on wheat. There is something about Subway that always just tastes so good and I was sad when I took my last bite. I usually get a salad, but the sandwich was really good. I think they added cheese to it as well, but not sure which kind. No complaints 🙂
After lunch we went to Barrow Brewing for a few hours to enjoy the sun, live music and each others company. My best friend Liz was also able to make the drive down from Austin, so we got to visit with her as well! Her cute little girl Helen was also in tow. She has quite the personality and made us laugh quite a bit.
Liz and I have been friends for about 12 years. She’s someone that I know I could trust with anything and even when we go a period of time without talking, we can always pick up right where we left off. She used to live above me in a four-plex when I first moved to Houston. Over time we began talking and before you knew it she was letting herself into the apartment in the morning to make herself a cup of coffee before she headed to work.
I’m lucky to have her as a friend and I always swear I will be better about calling and texting. Liz, I’ll make that part of my New Year’s resolution list 🙂 I wanted her to be the maid of honor at my wedding as she’s had practice (story for another time, promise!) but her and her husband Chris are headed out of town to celebrate their 10 year anniversary that weekend. Really, really stinks but she will be able to do all the bachelorette and fun stuff with us before the big day.
We saw the biggest dog ever while we were visiting. The dog was literally sitting on the bench like a human. Dad Papke sneezed at one point and the dog stood straight up ready to defend his owners. Was pretty funny!
There was also live music and she sang beautifully, but she was all the way in the back so didn’t really get to watch much of what was going on. She didn’t look anything like the picture that was promoted, so we thought it was her groupies setting up the equipment, but it was really her. She had a very pretty voice and was cool to get to see and hear live music.
Lynn and I cuddled and watched Christmas Chronicles. If you haven’t seen it, watch it today. It’s on Netflix and was a very cute Christmas movie that had some of that Christmas magic to it! I remember being a kid and my favorite movie of the season was Santa Claus with Tim Allen. It made me want to believe all over again and always left me feeling full of magic. it’s still in my top few favorites along with Home Alone (one AND two). I just LOVE Christmas so much!
Anyways, I thought it was cute that Goldie Hawn was Santa’s Mrs. Claus as Kurt Russell who played Santa is her husband in real life.
I plan on getting up early to get 15 miles in before Christmas Eve gets started. I know we are going to candlelight service tomorrow night and I’ve never done that before so I’m pretty excited. Lucky to be part of such an incredible family!
Lynn was having issues with allergies today (poor baby) and fell in and out of sleep a bit during the movie. Isn’t she cute?
See you at the start line!
