How many of you have ever woke up exhausted only to promise yourself that no matter what you will go to bed early that night. Well, I’ve been saying that for the past 7 years and I still actually believe myself each morning I make that promise. I don’t think it’s ever happened. Not once. First time for everything, right?!
I thought the picture above was funny as I even mentioned running back and forth on the last few of my runs so I could hit the next mile. Runners are a strange bunch of people, right? 🙂
Well folks, it happened! The Chevron Houston Marathon officially sold out! I do have another race if you are wanting to hit one in January and missed out on the Houston race.
I’ll be there for the River Road Run on the 5th of January so come run with me! If you use promo code ROADRUNNERCHICK15 you’ll get 15 percent off on the run! There is a 5k and 10k along with the half marathon. Come for the race, stay for the party after! I also have a group of folks going to drink beer later that night at Roadmap Brewing, so it’ll be a fun day! More on this over the weekend, but get signed up now! Scallywompus has some amazing events and series so make sure and check them out! Plus, I’ll be at most of the races so it will definitely be worth it 🙂
In other exciting news, the publisher for Shalane Flanagan’s new cookbook Run Fast. Cook Fast. Eat Slow reached out and is sending me some copies to give away to some of YOU! She has some amazing recipes for you to try. Plus, it’s Shalane Flanagan. Stay tuned for how to win!
Something else that got me all excited before bed last night is when I saw this;
Um, what?! My favorite performance drink and now in EXTREME ENERGY?! I believe I will have a few of these to giveaway as well in the near future so stay tuned as this blog just got cooler.

So, the highlight of the day… or should I say night, was seeing several of the ladies who were on Ru Paul’s Drag Race in a Drag Queen Christmas. Once again, I knew it would make for a late night… but it was totally worth it!
We stopped at The Esquire Bar (the longest wooden bar in Texas and was built in the 1930’s) for a few drinks and a bite to eat before the show! We got some Texas Onion dip and an Empanada and washed them down with a few moscow mules. Everything was perfect!
You could definitely tell who was going to the show next door at the Aztec theater as there was plenty of sparkle up in that restaurant. Um Kay!
I upgraded us to a closer seat and I’m glad I did as we were able to see the ladies much better. The girls were hilarious and we loved each of them! The theater was stunning and just like the Majestic we went to a few weeks ago, this was also very old and the detail was exquisite!
These ladies got some moves, let me tell you! I can’t walk in heels more less bust some of the moves that they pulled off.
One of the ladies played the violin and it was incredible. Lynn and I were going back and forth on if she was really playing or not. I said yes, Lynn said no way. I was right 🙂 She’s in an orchestra during her spare time even!
We had a blast and Lynn got us a dragulous (fabulous) shirt as a momento! I know what I’ll be wearing this Saturday!
Just a few more days until break and we are both really looking forward to no alarm clocks and seeing friends and family. I have a lot to be grateful for and I’m excited for some down time to reflect on what an incredible year it has been!
I’m going to put on my big girl pants and tell myself I’m not tired so I can knock out 10 miles tonight. Not gonna lie, I’m not too excited about that but I know it’s only because I’m tired and I just want to take a nap.
Have a great start to your Thursday and I’ll be back on this evening! Work hard, run hard and see you at the start line! Lots of exciting things are happening!
Got some race pictures back and I liked the one above! Getting Lynn on the action at my next run… more on that to come as well. Okay, I’m really signing off now! Ta ta
PPS – I didn’t proof read this so I’m sure the fiance will have a lot of oops. YOLO
