Well TGI-almost-F! I hope your day has been fabulous and you are looking forward to a wonderful weekend! This morning was the roughest for me yet and I even had an alarm for my alarm. I’m not kidding. Late night bedtime again and every morning I wake up and swear I’m going to go to bed at 6pm (I never do!). Thanksgiving break messed my sleep pattern up, so I’m really going to work on getting back on track this next week. Bella was exhausted as well as you can tell from the picture above.
Work this morning was nuts, and by the time I got to my desk I was ready to pound my Starbucks Vanilla Late (extra shot) and what did I have for breakfast you ask? Cookie Dough. Yup, a big fat piece of chocolate chip cookie dough. Was a perfect pairing for my afternoon crash.
Now that I had enough sugar in me to last a week, I was ready to get the day started. I do a lot of walking at work, approximately 5-8 miles a day and that’s BEFORE any running. I’ve been noticing these type of scooters all over the city and where I work and always see people zip by on them. I’m a little afraid of them as I’m not the most coordinated person in the world… or this room for that matter! Have you ridden on one before and was it hard?
I work on a very pretty campus and it still amazes me that on my runs, where I work…. IN TEXAS…. I see this on a daily basis. Cactus, palm trees, etc… makes me want to close my eyes and picture myself on a beach with a frozen pina colada in my right hand!
GU mentioned on their social media today that all GU packets have a hidden message on the bottom. Many athletes, myself included, had our mind blown today. I’ve been squirting this stuff for years, how have I never known? Well, they also asked for another cool message that could be put on the bottom, and the best answer would win free GU. So, naturally I responded 112 times. Pick me! Also, on my Christmas list is still to be selected as a GU Ambassador….. GU, vote for me! 🙂 For today’s run, I found my last mint chocolate and was in heaven! Of course I checked them bottom and it brought a smile before I hit the road!
I listened to a Podcast that came up about a runner named Lindsey McSwain. I really enjoyed it, and in it she mentioned running the St George Marathon with a running partner named Janae….. So of course the whole run I was wondering if it was Janae from Hungry Runner Girl… a blog I follow! That would be crazy coincidence! I should reach out to Janae sometime as we have quite a bit in common, plus I admire her and the accomplishments she’s made!
Todays run was just an easy 4 miler, and I was super exhausted so it took all I had to even go out for the run. Again, this is why I take my running clothes to work… no excuse! I did enjoy the run, as I always do, and am getting very excited for Sundays Race. I did 4 miles at 8:59 average and breakdown is below.
I’m really looking forward to the Expo as Rocknroll posted this today!!!! Um, can I just sit down with them and pick their brains about everything running? Maybe touch Meb’s olympic medal? Just maybe?
Funny thing happened as I walked in the door this evening. Bella and Emmy went crazy as I walked in… well, they always do, however they didn’t simmer down.
As Lynn was putting her dinner away the pups were still whining quite a bit so I asked if they had been fed. Lynn paused and said, “look, I tried…. it’s not my fault I don’t know how to use a can opener. I can’t figure it out.” Ladies and gentlemen, I’m talking about a hand held can opener…. an object that has been used for generations before us. So, she had given up and left the

Lynn paused and said, “look, I tried…. it’s not my fault I don’t know how to use a can opener. I can’t figure it out.” Ladies and gentlemen, I’m talking about a hand held can opener…. an object that has been used for generations before us. So, she had given up and left the can opener sitting by the dog food and the pups were starving to death… withering away… Okay, it wasn’t that serious, but I did laugh pretty loudly. Right before I picked up my phone and said that the blogs would reflect this situation 🙂 (That’s for you Dad Papke!) I saved their lives 🙂
After my run I knew I was out of salad ingredients for the most part, so I stopped at Pot Belly for the first time! My sister had bragged about the cookies from there several times in the past so I was really looking forward to those and my dinner. Well, they were fresh out of the famous cookies (We wanted chocolate chip and to try the Andes Mint Chocolate Brownie cookies) so they must be good! Next time. However, the Mediterranean salad was delicious and I will be going back. If you haven’t gone before, I highly suggest it!
Now that I’ve gorged on vegetables, I’m going to try and hit the hay a little early tonight! I hope you all have a great start to your day tomorrow! To end the night on sweetness… Here is my girl and sweet Emmy (without her Christmas sweater! Hard to see her sometimes as she is so dark!)
See you at the Start Line!
